Ryoji Shinomoto is a Japanese composer, guitarist and vocalist from Sapporo, and the founder of the melodic death metal band RYUJIN (formerly GYZE), which he formed with his brother Shuji in 2009. His symphonic style fuses traditional Japanese instruments with classical music and metal, a sound he calls “Samurai Metal”.

He began on classical guitar at age eight before turning to electric guitar, and is known for his shredding technique and ferocious vocals. In 2025 he signed with Napalm Records and released Children of Bushido, a tribute album to Alexi Laiho.
